The Sound and Its Paths

The sharing event began with an overview of sound art theory and an introduction to several sound art research institutions in Taiwan. I reflects on how my curatorial approach differs when working independently versus within an institution, and how I typically builds collaborative networks through playful, game-like strategies. Curator and artist Kok Siew-Wai from Kuala Lumpur has been actively promoting the independent arts festival “KLEX” for many years. She shared stories from the festival’s decade-long history, its unique volunteer-driven operational model, as well as its international collaboration networks and strategies.

In the final session, the speakers engaged in a conversation, sharing their listening practices, approaches to improvisation, sound recordings, and research notes. Participants were also encouraged to share their own observations about sound and explore new ways of listening together.
